“I love those roads, I love Lombardy. Coming back here i twill be a special feeling”. Those are the words of Joaquim, “Purito” Rodriguez, winner of the 2012 and 2013 editions of the Il Lombardia, who will be one of the 1500 protagonists at the Gran Fondo Il Lombardia.
“It will be a new emotion – Purito says – : when you are a pro you ride with 150 guys, today they will ten time more! The first advice is to give everything and to enjoy all the emotions. We are lucky to ride the same roads that yesterday have hosted the pros. When is there the same chance for the tennis and football fans?”.
The appeal of the Gran Fondo is due even to the beauty of the landscape: “Maybe – Rodriguez advices – you should sometimes ride less harder to enjoy the beauty of this area, especially with this beautiful weather”.
Purito knows very well the three climbs: “Ghisallo is the history of our sport. The other two are both tough: to face the Civiglio with a bit of energy it will be important to save the energy on the ghisallo. This will make the difference and decide the standing”.
