Around 1500 amateurs faced the iconic climbs of the Muro di Sormano and the Madonna del Ghisallo. The Gran Fondo Il Lombardia, both starting and finishing in Cantù, ends the series of cycling events, dedicated to amateur cyclists, organized by RCS Sports&events and RCS Active Team.
Today, 1500 amateurs competed in the Gran Fondo Il Lombardia Enel.
The 111.2 km-long route (113,5 km without the iconic climb) gradually selected the strongest of competitors who faced the tremendous Muro di Sormano and the Madonna del Ghisallo, before returning to Cantù. Even as a young race, the Gran Fondo Il Lombardia has become a prestigious event in the Italian and international amateur cycling scene.
At the finish line in Cantù, Matteo Cigala came first, outclassing Paolo Castelnovo and Rossano Mauti.
In the Women’s race, Christina Rausch took the first place, while Samantha Arnaudo and Luise Valentin came second and third respectively.
