WHEN DOES THE RACE START?

Sunday 13th October 2019, Cantù (CO – Lombardia – Italy)

WHERE IS THE START?

CANTÙ (CO), PIAZZALE CORSO EUROPA, 45°44’18.7″N 9°06’58.0″E, grids open at 6.30 am, the race starts at 7.30 a.m.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?

Open to all the F.C.I. members and foreign amateur racing cyclists with their Federation regular 2019 membership card, from 19 to 70 years old.

No UDACE membership card but only the replacement ACSI-UDACE membership card is allowed.

The race, is also open to members of the Sports Organizations Bodies, that have signed the agreement with the FCI for the year 2019 (ACSI, CSI, CSAIN and UISP) and members of the Sports Organizations Bodies, that must present the Bike Card together with the card (For the list of the SOB, please have a look here https://bit.ly/2PM3BRN).

N.B. all card holders for other organizations must submit the competitive medical certificate for cycling (no other sports!), and buy the Daily Card.

For those Who do not have a membership card, a € 10,00 F.C.I. Daily Card, will be issued. It covers the insurance for ‘third-party liability’ during the Event. For this card to be issued the PARTICIPANTS NEED TO SUBMIT THE SPORT-MEDICAL CERTIFICATE(CYCLING CERTIFICATE) drawn up according to the model available online, and the Ethical Statement (downloadable here https://bit.ly/2lEeUkv).

The Event is by invitation only. At any time and with unappealable decision, the Organizational Committee can decide whether to accept or not the entry or to exclude an entered participant in case the latter may damage the image of the Event.

AM I ELIGIBLE IF I AM NOT A MEMBER OF ANY TEAM?

Yes sure, you will be enrolled as “individual”. When you come to collect the race number, you must provide the Sport–Medical certificate. Then you can buy the Daily FCI Card (€10), if you haven’t bought it already online. The Daily FCI Card makes you a cyclist for one day, so you can benefit from the insurance that the FCI provides to all its members. You must have the sport-medical certificate to collect the daily card.

WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE THE SPORT-MEDICAL CERTIFICATE?

We cannot provide you the Daily Card and you are not eligible for the Gran Fondo.

WHAT IS THE CARD FOR? WHO HAS TO BUY THE DAILY CARD?

The Daily Card is a document  for the athletes that are not member of any team. The Daily FCI Card allows you to be covered by the insurance that all team members have. The price (set by Federazione Ciclistica Italiana, FCI) is €10.

WHICH ARE THE REGISTRATION METHODS?

The registration must be done only and exclusively online with credit card on the website www.endu.net. It will be possible to pay the Daily Card online in order to avoid the queue at the race number collection.

CAN I SIGN UP IN THE MORNING OF THE RACE?

No, online registrations close on October 9, 2019 at midnight.  The registration must be done only and exclusively online with credit card on the website www.endu.net. It will be possible to pay the Daily Card online in order to avoid the queue at the race number collection.

WHEN IS THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE?

The online registration will close on October 9, 2019. It will be possible to register in the Technical Area on October 12th, 2019. The organization reserves the right to close the registration at any time.

HOW CAN I CHECK IF MY REGISTRATION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL?

If you are not sure of your registration’s outcome, check if you have received an email from Endu.

If you have received the email, you are successfully enrolled for the race.
If you have not received the email, maybe, you are successfully enrolled but:

  • You gave us the wrong email address or not in use
  • The emails are in the Junk mail
  • Our emails have not been accepted by the server of your email address
  • If you haven’t received the payment confirmation you are not registered
  • If you have received the payment confirmation but not the email: please contact us at rcsactiveteam@gmail.com

DURING THE REGISTRATION DO I NEED TO BE A CARDHOLDER?

No, not necessarily. The info of the FCI Card or of other Ente della Consulta 2019 must be provided as soon as possible and mandatorily by October 13, 2019.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE ENTRY FEE?

  • the race number
  • the official jersey (for the first 2,000 participants)
  • the official race bag
  • breakdown assistance (spares are not included)
  • medical care during the race
  • feeding points along the route
  • broom wagon service
  • pasta party at the finish

WHAT TIME CAN I BE AT MY STARTING GRID?

The organization will open the starting grids at 06.30 a.m.

HOW CAN I KNOW MY RACE NUMBER?

Race numbers are provided after the registration deadline, from the 1st October. They will be communicated via email with all the useful information in the days following the registration deadline.

WHEN AND WHERE IS THE RACE NUMBER COLLECTION?

Saturday 12 October 2019 at the technical area in Piazzale Corso Europa, Cantù (CO) 09.30 am to 07.30 p.m. Race numbers are not sent to your home address  by post.

WILL THERE BE STARTING GRIDS?

Starting grids will be given considering the registration date and sporting merits of 2018. The organization will disqualify immediately who will be caught picking a different grid and who will be caught in a starting grid  with a different race number.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM NOT ABLE TO PARTICIPATE?

If you are enrolled and you cannot participate, the entry fee will not be refunded. In this case you must communicate it at rcsactiveteam@gmail.com by 30th September at midnight, in order to make your entry fee available for the 2020 race.

SHOULD I BRING SPECIFIC DOCUMENTS FOR THE RACE NUMBER COLLECTION?

You have to bring your membership card and the medical – sport certificate.

CAN I DESIGNATE SOMEONE ELSE FOR THE RACE NUMBER COLLECTION?

Yes you can. It will be necessary to provide at the race number collection a signed mandate, a copy of your membership card and a copy of your ID.

HOW MANY ROUTES ARE THERE?

  • Route 1: GRAN FONDO IL LOMBARDIA – 111,2 KM
  • Route 2: GRAN FONDO IL LOMBARDIA – WITHOUT MURO DI SORMANO – 113,5 KM

HOW DOES THE TIMEKEEPING WORK?

Gran Fondo Il Lombardia uses the official Timer MySDAM with technology based on a “chip”. Each participant will wear a personal chip or a daily chip (it can be rent) in order to appear in the standing. The wrong or missed use of the chip will not make you appear in the standing and your time won’t be measured.

IS THERE A TIME LIMIT TO COMPLETE THE RACE?

Yes. The race ends by the 2.30p.m of October 13, 2019.

WHERE DO I FIND THE STANDINGS?

The Final times will be available in real time following the links set on the website www.gfilombardia.it. In the same way, you will be able to download the participation certificate.

The Team standings will be available considering the number of the athletes enrolled and published on the website www.gfilombardia.it

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE VEHICLE “FINE GARA CICLISTICA” (END OF THE RACE) OVERTAKES ME?

The athletes overtaken by the “end race” car will continue the race as normal cyclists and must observe the traffic laws keeping the race number on their back.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I WANT TO GIVE UP?

In case you can’t continue the race, you can benefit from the Broom wagon service, which will carry you to the finish line with the organization vehicles (buses or vans) at the group tail. Please keep in mind that the service is not a cab and it will carry you to Cantù only when it will be full.

WILL THERE BE A BROOM WAGON SERVICE?

Yes, there will be at the tail of the group. Please keep in  mind that the bicycles of the forfeiting participants will be brought to the technical area (Piazzale Corso Europa). It will be possible to collect your bicycle by showing your race number and your ID. It is not guaranteed that the broom wagon will come back to the technical area at the same time of the bicycles.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT TAKES ME MORE TIME THAN THE FIXED LIMIT TO FINISH THE RACE?

The organization doesn’t guarantee any services to the participants which will not figure in the standing.

ARE THERE ANY CHECKPOINTS?

Yes, there are three: Start, along the route, Finish

ARE THERE ANY FEEDING POINTS?

Yes, two along the route.

HOW MANY FEEDING POINTS ARE THERE AND WHERE?

  • Point 1: Colma di Sormano 36 KM
  • Point 2: Madonna del Ghisallo 70 Km

WILL THERE BE A PASTA PARTY AT THE FINISH?

Yes, inside the Race pack together with your race number, you will find a voucher for the Pasta Party at technical area in Piazzale Corso Europa. Relatives and friends can also purchase the vouchers and join the feast.

ARE THERE SHOWERS AVAILABLE FOR THE PARTICIPANTS?

Yes, female and male showers inside the football municipal stadium, please follow the signs from the Village.

IS THERE A BREAKDOWN ASSISTANCE ALONG THE ROUTE?

Yes, there is. You will find cars and scooters following the group and the checkpoints. Any private assistance is strongly forbidden. However, it is allowed to make provisions at the feeding points.

IS THERE A MEDICAL ASSISTANCE?

Yes, there is. You will find 10 ambulances, 2 medical cars and 2 medical posts. You will find 20 qualified paramedics.

IS THERE ANY RADIO ASSISTANCE?

Yes, there is along the route and at the finish line. 

WHO IS GOING TO BE AWARDED?

  • The first five teams
  • The first three male athletes classified
  • The first three women classified
  • The first athlete classified in the male categories Elite/sport 19/29, Master 1 30/34, Master 2 35/39, Master 3 40/44, Master 4 45/49, Master 5 50/54, Master 6 55/59, Master 7 60/64
  • The first athlete classified in the female categories Sport Elite Women 19/29, Master Women 1 30/39, Master Women 2 >over 40

Additional awards will be communicated at the race start. The not collected awards will be sent home by post.

WHICH ARE THE RIGHTS AND DUTIES?

  1. The participant can choose freely the most suitable route during the race following the checkpoints
  2. Gran Fondo Il Lombardia is a agonistic/competitive/sporting event, so the traffic laws are in force.
  3. The athletes overtaken by the “end race” car have to continue the race as common cyclists keeping the race number on their back.
  4. It is mandatory for everyone showing clearly the race number on the handlebars
  5. It is compulsory wearing the helmet and well fasten.
  6. It is absolutely forbidden throwing waste along the route, in order to protect the environment. It is mandatory to throw the waste in the specific baskets at the feeding point or at the finish line. The organization will disqualify who will not follow the rules.

ONCE ARRIVED AT PIAZZA GARIBALDI (END OF THE RACE), HOW CAN I COME BACK TO THE TECHNICAL AREA?

You can go by bicycle, following the road signs and observing the traffic laws.
