The spectacle of the 1700 amateurs cyclists at the Gran Fondo Il Lombardia

By 9 October 2022Gran Fondo

Over 1700 amateur cyclists, from across the world, faced the iconic climbs of the Muro di Sormano and the Madonna del Ghisallo under some difficult weather conditions. The Gran Fondo Il Lombardia, both starting and finishing in Cantù, ends the series of cycling events dedicated to amateur cyclists, organized by RCS Sports&events and RCS Active Team.

Today, over 1700 amateur cyclists from 43 nations, competed in the Gran Fondo Il Lombardia Enel Green Power. Even as a fairly young race, the Gran Fondo Il Lombardia Enel Green Power has become a prestigious event in the Italian and international amateur cycling scene. The 111.2km-long route (113.5km without the iconic climb) gradually selected the strongest of competitors, who faced the tremendous Muro di Sormano and the Madonna del Ghisallo before returning to Cantù. The difficult weather conditions made their ride even more challenging.

WINNERS

At the finish line in Cantù, Pietro Dutto (Italy) came first, outperforming Loic Ruffaut (France) and Rossano Mauti (Italy).

In the Women’s race, Luise Valentin (Denmark) took first place, while Rebi Robisch (Germany) and Sonia Passuti (Italy) came second and third respectively.
